This can take the form of either a paper screening exercise, or more rarely, a face-to-face assessment with our occupational health nursing advisor (OHNA) can be arranged.

Pre-employment/placement assessment is a legal requirement under the Control of Vibration at Work regulations 2005 and for certain health and safety critical jobs. For example Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) and Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) drivers.

It it also useful for collecting employees baseline health information where certain hazardous exposure is anticipated. For example if the employee will be exposed to noise or respiratory senitisers in work OHNI can undertake pre-employment hearing checks (audiometry) and lung function testing (LFT). This securily held pre-employment data will be kept and can be accessed for use in the employers defence should an employee bring a case for compensation against the employer for industrial injury purposes.

Industrial injuries compensation for an individual employee can cost your business several thousand pounds. You must also consider the damage to your businesses reputation if an industrial injury occurs.

Avoiding or at least minimising the risk of industrial injury is not only a statutory requirement but it makes financial sense too. OHNI processes will save you money in the long term.
